Update From The Office Number 2

Weather: Distractingly, horribly perfect.  Let me out of this building!

Recent interesting lesson: Tongue twisters and "All You Need Is Love".  Tongue twisters included "Red leather, yellow leather", "She sells seashells by the seashore", and "The big black bug bit the big black bear but the big black bear bit the big black bug back".  Also, there's something very sweet and sublime about 35 Japanese kids singing "All you need is love, love" with a slight accent.

Engrish: "My body is hotter and hotter".

Random: The new first years are super forthright and excited to talk to me, and some of the girls called me handsome in Japanese, so once I told them what the English word was, they've taken to calling out to me by shouts of "Handsome!" instead of "Creighton!"  This job can be quite bad for my ego, because I'm not sure where else I would be able to walk down the halls and dashingly turn and answer "Yes?" to shouts like that.

Prime Minister Hatoyama stepped down from office today; he only made it nine months before failing to deliver on a promise to move the US base on Okinawa resulted in pressure to resign.  A friend of mine says three Japanese PMs have resigned in the four years he's been here.  I haven't seen any indications that anyone cares at the office, but they generally don't talk about politics at all in the office here.

Finally, some pretty cool news; I entered a national photo contest held by a Hiroshima JET publication and won the thing!  While there were submissions from many places, I don't know how deep the competition was, but whatever.  It's a photo you should remember: http://www.wideislandview.com/2010/05/announcing-the-2010-spring-photo-contest-winners/
